As an added thought- I have often noticed that many art institutions have 1 of 2 descriptions in their about section: they may have a core mission and history with earnest beliefs. If not, they always seem to write the same sentence: “the gallery works in collaboration with a mix of established and emerging artists”. This seems to me such a lame attempt at an ethos. It’s just pointing to the fact that they work with artists just out of their degree shows and big names, because these are the easiest spaces to exist in.

Michele -- I love this so much. The idea that emerging means under 40, is absurd. Just say "young" if that's what they mean. Why emerge -- be the mycelium. Thanks for this deep message at this moment.
